Registration procedure Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne

  • Submission date for the application file to your administrative contact for verification: by September 5th, 6:00 PM at the latest.
  • After validation by the doctoral school council and approval from the administrative manager of the doctoral school, you will submit your application online on ADUM.

The upcoming councils will take place on the following dates:

  • October 16, 2024 / November 13, 2024 / November 27, 2024 / December 11, 2024
  • Detailed review of the registration procedure at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (PRISM-Sorbonne, CRI & IAE Paris-Sorbonne BS) and ESCP Business School.

    First-time applicants to the ED 559 in Management can apply only if they have a written and signed preliminary agreement from a thesis supervisor who is part of one of the four partners of ED 559 (PRISM-Sorbonne Laboratory, CRI Laboratory, IAE Paris-Sorbonne BS Laboratory, and ERIM Laboratory of ESCP Business School).

    At this point, the applicant must compile an application file (in a single PDF file and in the following order):

    • Detailed CV of the applicant (including mobile number, email, and date of birth in the header)
    • Research project in French or English, 5 pages excluding bibliography
    • Signed and dated cover letter from the applicant
    • Signed and dated recommendation letter from the prospective thesis supervisor
    • Certified transcripts from Bachelor's (Year 1) to Master's (Year 2) or equivalent
    • Copy of the most recent degree obtained (Master's, MBA, engineering degree, etc.)

    It is important to note that a minimum grade of 12/20 is required for the research thesis. (For equivalencies of other diplomas of the same level (Bac +5), please check directly with the administrative referent of the laboratory corresponding to your prospective thesis supervisor.)

    The complete application file must be sent electronically only to the prospective thesis supervisor and the administrative referent corresponding to the chosen laboratory.

    The candidates' files are then presented by representatives of the various laboratories to the ED council during the academic start period (September-November) for acceptance/validation. (Check with the administrative referents for the dates of the ED council meetings.)

    You will be directly informed of the positive or negative result by email from your future administrative referent.

    For the 2024/2025 academic year:

    First-time entrants from the four partner laboratories, after their application has been accepted by the ED council, should contact Mr. Loïc SOREL via email so he can approve the creation of their doctoral profile on the ADUM site: www.adum.fr.

    With a valid email address and a password of their choice, each validated first-time entrant will create their incoming doctoral profile by carefully completing all required sections, including the mandatory upload of a recent ID photo (passport-style), a detailed CV, and a LinkedIn URL link. It is important to save each page after making modifications.

    Then notify Mr. Loïc SOREL of the creation and completion of your profile so he can verify it (be prepared for potential email exchanges to improve the profile), finalize your data, and officially validate it.

    Once this is done, several electronic signatures will be needed to validate your ADUM profile. (Thesis supervisor, head of your laboratory, director of the Doctoral School, and finally, the head of the Institution.)

    * For 2024/2025, first-time entrants from ESCP BS will follow a slightly different process.

    Once all the required signatures have been obtained, you will be informed of the payment procedures via automatic emails from the ADUM platform. Thus, for laboratories at the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (PRISM-Sorbonne, CRI & IAE Paris-Sorbonne): the registration fee is €380.

    For all doctoral students in the initial training program, also plan for the mandatory payment of the CVEC (Contribution to Student and Campus Life).

    First-time entrants in continuing education are exempt from this.

    However, for first-time entrants from ESCP BS, please contact Ms. Christine ROCQUE directly regarding payment: crocque@escp.eu.

Re-registration (2nd to 6th year) :

In accordance with Article 14 of the French Ministerial Order of 25 May 2016, doctoral studies are normally completed within three years for doctoral candidates benefiting from dedicated funding allowing them to devote themselves full-time to their research.

In other situations, particularly for doctoral candidates pursuing their doctorate alongside professional activities, the duration of doctoral studies may be extended up to six years.

Individual Monitoring Committee (CSI): A Mandatory Annual Requirement

Any doctoral candidate wishing to re-enroll for the following academic year must first organize an Individual Monitoring Committee (Comité de Suivi Individuel – CSI).

The CSI must take place between May and the end of September. Its assessment constitutes the central element of any re-enrollment request, regardless of the year of study concerned.

A favorable CSI assessment is mandatory for:

  • re-enrollment in the 2nd year;
  • re-enrollment in the 3rd year;
  • any request for re-enrollment in the 4th, 5th or 6th year.

Re-enrollment in the 2nd and 3rd Year

For any request to re-enroll in the second or third year of the doctoral program, the following documents must be submitted:

1. Individual Monitoring Committee (CSI) Report

The CSI report, signed by the committee members, must be submitted in PDF format.

2. Supervisor's Opinion

The supervisor's opinion must accompany the re-enrollment request and confirm that the doctoral work is progressing satisfactorily.

Re-enrollment in the 4th, 5th and 6th Year (Derogatory Procedure)

Any enrollment beyond the standard duration of the doctoral program is subject to review by the EDMPS Doctoral School Council.

The re-enrollment application file must include the following documents:

1. Individual Monitoring Committee (CSI) Report

CSI report signed by the committee members and submitted in PDF format.

2. Progress Report

A document describing the progress of the research work, signed by the supervisor.

3. Supervisor's Reasoned Opinion

A detailed statement from the supervisor supporting the continuation of the doctoral project and the request for re-enrollment.

4. Provisional Thesis Defense Schedule

A document outlining the remaining milestones and the expected date of the thesis defense.

The decision regarding re-enrollment is made by the EDMPS Doctoral School Council following examination of the application.

Submission of the Re-enrollment File

All supporting documents must be merged into a single PDF file.

The complete application file must be sent by email to your administrative contact person and to:

edmps@univ-paris1.fr

Once the documents have been reviewed and validated by the Doctoral School, the file will be released in ADUM, allowing the candidate to complete the administrative re-enrollment process.

Administrative Contacts

Application files must be sent to the administrative contact person corresponding to the candidate's research unit:

Review of 4th-, 5th- and 6th-Year Re-enrollment Requests

Doctoral candidates will be informed of the Council's decision by their administrative contact person before proceeding with their re-enrollment in ADUM.

Provisional Re-enrollment Schedule for 2026–2027

Two re-enrollment periods are scheduled:

  • from 22 June to 23 July 2026;
  • from September to the end of November 2026.

The EDMPS Doctoral School Council meetings scheduled to review applications are:

  • 29 June 2026 (morning);
  • 29 September 2026 (afternoon);

Administrative Re-enrollment Deadline

For doctoral candidates affiliated with PRISM-Sorbonne, CRI and IAE Paris-Sorbonne Business School, the deadline for payment of tuition fees and completion of the administrative re-enrollment process is:

Thursday, 26 November 2026.

Doctoral candidates affiliated with ESCP Business School should contact Jessica Mosquera directly regarding specific procedures and deadlines.

IMPORTANT: In accordance with Article 14 of the decree of May 25, 2016, doctoral research is generally completed in 3 years of full-time equivalent dedicated to research. In other cases, the duration of doctoral research may be up to 6 years at most. The duration of doctoral training for a doctoral candidate with a disability can be extended by the institution's head on a motivated request from the doctoral candidate. If the doctoral candidate has taken maternity leave, paternity leave, child adoption leave, parental leave, sick leave lasting more than 4 consecutive months, or leave of at least 2 months following a work-related accident, the duration of doctoral research is extended if requested by the individual.
